Waste management is becoming an increasing problem of modern society. The problem of waste management starts with the man who generates waste for his daily needs and the growing industry. Backward and old methods used for waste management are increasingly struggling to meet the needs of society. The research is part of this paper and is based on the observation of modern methods of waste management, finding their shortcomings and obstacles. Through the research itself, ideas are sought in all ways to bring existing systems closer into one comprehensive IoT system that would have complete control of information for waste management. Such a system itself would consist of a control center and then a series of less complex embedded systems that have their own tasks, such as measuring the amount of waste, GPS locations of tanks and vehicles, and communication between all systems with each other. By analyzing the data obtained, the research enables the creation of a concept and prototype of a subsystem called "Smart Garbage Bin", which is one in a series of parts of a complete waste management system. Such a garbage bin would have a simple user identification and an interactive interface that is easy and intuitive to use, in addition to providing the central system with all the information about the stored waste, the location and the user who uses it.
